For the creation of basemaps, Map International is mainly based on aerial photographs for metric purposes and is a pioneer in the production of geospatial products from images. Although technology is continuously evolving, the initial concept of the use of aerial images for the creation of geographic basemaps remains the same and is the main subject of the company.
The Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing department deals with mapping of the Earth’s surface including construction sites, monuments or even more complicated structures, in all possible survey scales, depending on the desired level of accuracy and resolution.
It is based on the use of a variety of aerial mechanical and digital metric sensors (photogrammetric, remote sensing, laser etc.) using all modern means of primary data acquisition for the surveys.
The data acquired by these receivers is processed in digital photogrammetry, remote sensing and laser scanning data software solutions that create the final mapping product. Map International, with the cooperation of its partners, has access in a variety of digital photogrammetric sensors, satellite data and Lidar sensors.
Especially for the large-scale surveys such as documentation of monuments, archaeological sites or industrial facilities, Map International uses lightweight Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and multicopters that are able to overcome the problems and limitations of large-scale documentation surveys.
The geo-referencing of these data is fully automated (Direct Geo-referencing) or semi-automated (Indirect Geo-referencing). In direct geo-referencing cases, GPS/IMU technology is used in order to acquire excellent accuracy. In indirect geo-referencing cases, automated aero-triangulation software is used.
Map International applies new innovative technologies of Distributed Processing regarding the production process of Photogrammetry which ensures remarkably low production time, thus cost-effective solutions.
The technologies of this activity are mainly used for the production of data for all Geoinformation applications, from low scale touristic maps, land use and cadastral surveys, cadastral plans and area measurements to complicated monument documentations and industry construction documentations.
